Organizations Supporting Women in the Sciences

Many organizations support educating girls in the science fields and offer resources to achieve higher rates of girls entering STEM careers.

ACS is actively involved in helping chemistry education and outreach providing resources for grades K-12. They provide information and materials for starting chemistry clubs, participating in the Chemistry Olympiad, and participating in Project Seed, an early undergraduate summer research program. Their outreach program promotes chemistry through National Chemistry Week activities in October, Earth Day activities in April, and volunteer opportunities for chemists. They publish magazines for students: ChemMatters and Chemmunity News, and for teachers: Journal of Chemical Education. ACS has a strong policy promoting quality chemistry education due to the high need for scientists and engineers in the United States. They work to promote STEM careers in all populations, especially populations that are not well-represented in these professions.
